Bachelor in Performing Arts MIUR - AFAM

The n. 251/2016 Ministerial Decree signed by the Ministry of University and Research authorizes the International Theatre Academy to issue the Academic Bachelor of First Level  in Acting (DADPL02). The Accademia Internazionale di Teatro is therefore currently one of the only Italian Institute, together with the "Silvio D'Amico" Dramatic Art Academy and the "Paolo Grassi" School of Theatre, to issue the title of Bachelor of 1st Level in Acting, equivalent to three years Bachelor, for competition purpose, according to Law 228/12.  During the accreditation process, started in 2012, the authorization was preceded by the positive opinions expressed by the Board of Directors of the National Agency for the Evaluation of the University System and Research (ANVUR) and the Evaluation Commission of the educational systems. In the evaluation by the Ministry of Education, verification criteria include: the specific examination of teachers's curricula, the correspondence of the teaching system and teaching disciplines with the training objectives, the catchment area of the students graduated and enrolled in the courses, the diversifying and peculiar elements with respect to similar institutions of the AFAM sector, the educational-artistic initiatives and the programmatic agreements with national and international working reality in order to activate internships and traineeships and, last but not least, the standards of the structure in terms of compliance with the regulations in force both from an architectural point of view and from instrumental equipment. On 5th June 2014, the delegation of the Board of the National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research System (ANVUR), carried out a verification at the premises of the Accademia Internazionale di Teatro. After this evaluation that included the whole documentation to the records, the delegation found the following:

 "The buildings in Salita San Gregorio owned by the Municipality of Rome are located in a very suggestive green area, with an educational purpose. The offices based in Via Latina, the structures and the instrumental equipment are fully compliant with the objectives. In particular, the large and bright rooms and the technologically advanced facilities offer the possibility for students to carry out the practical and theoretical exercises provided for in the teaching plan. The instrumental equipment responds, as well, to the needs of the course of study."

"The Academy combines laboratory about acting teaching and theoretical training, it also provides technical and organizational skills for the staging of shows. The teachers, leading personalities in the field of live entertainment, with extensive and proven experience also in the international arena, are qualified to teach the courses offered and ensure adequate preparation for university education. There are also numerous initiatives to promote the theatrical activity of students through workshops, performances and shows open to the public and to the participation of students from Italian and foreign academies".  (ACCADEMIE RECITAZIONE / SCUOLA TEATRO UE / ACCADEMIE DI TEATRO AFAM).
Therefore, on 2nd July 2014, the ANVUR Executive Council expressed a positive opinion pursuant to art. 11 c. 2 of Presidential Decree 212/05 on the request made by the Accademia Internazionale di Teatro. On 1 and 2 February 2016, the Evaluation Commission of the didactic regulations, expressed its favourable opinion towards the Accademia Internazionale di Teatro.

At the end of the first three years of accreditation of Acting Academic Bachelor of 1^st  Level, in 2020 ANVUR visit again the structures of the Academy, to evaluate the maintenance of requirements established by legislation for accredited structures.  They evaluated, again, teachers’ curricula, the standards of structures, both from architectural and instrumental equipment point of view, as well as the progress of the 1^st Academic Bachelor Course started in A.Y. 2016/2017.

On July 23^rd 2020 ANVUR board of directors, gave positive opinion on the maintenance of  the aforementioned requirements.

On January 15^th 2021 MIUR approved the change to the System proposed by the Academy with D.M. 111.  The New Didactic Organization provides for biennialization and triennialization of basic subjects of the Acting Academic 1^st level Degree, as Acting Techniques, Use of Voice and Moving techniques.  The Program provides, together with practical study, also critical and methodological disciplines necessary to deepen student’s skills.
