Accademia Internazionale di Teatro

By Ministerial Decree No. 251/2016, the Ministry of University and Research authorised the International Theatre Academy to award the title of 1st Level Academic Diploma (DADPL02). The International Theatre Academy is therefore currently the only Italian institute, together with the 'Silvio D'Amico' Academy and the 'Paolo Grassi' School of Theatre, to award a three-year degree in Acting. In the accreditation process, which began in 2012, the authorisation was preceded by the positive opinions expressed by the Governing Council of the National Agency for the Evaluation of the University System and Research (ANVUR) and the Commission for the Evaluation of Teaching Regulations.

In the assessment by the Ministry of Education, Research and University Affairs (MIUR), criteria were applied that specifically examined the curricula of the teaching staff, the compliance of the teaching system and the teaching disciplines with the educational objectives, the the catchment area of the students who graduated and enrolled in the courses, and the diversifying and peculiar elements compared to similar institutions in the AFAM sector, the didactic-artistic initiatives and programme agreements with national and international working realities for the purpose of activating internships and apprenticeships and, last but not least, the standards of the structure in terms of compliance with the regulations in force both from an architectural point of view and in terms of instrumental equipment.

On 5 June 2014, the delegation of the Governing Council of the National Agency for the Evaluation of the University System and Research (ANVUR) carried out an inspection at the premises of the International Theatre Academy.

Following the aforementioned visit and the examination of the documentation on file, the delegation found the following:

"The buildings owned by the Municipality of Rome and located in Salita San Gregorio Gregorio are situated in a very picturesque green area with an educational vocation. The premises in Via Latina, the facilities and the equipment fully comply with the objectives. In particular, the spacious and bright rooms and the technologically advanced facilities offer students the opportunity to carry out the practical and theoretical exercises envisaged in the teaching plan.
The instrumental equipment, in turn, meets the requirements of the course of study".

"The Academy combines purely workshop-based teaching, especially acting, with theoretical training, and also provides technical and organisational skills for staging performances. The teachers, prominent personalities in the field of live performance, with extensive and proven experience also in the international sphere, are qualified to teach the courses offered and guarantee adequate preparation for university training. There are also numerous initiatives aimed at promoting the students' theatrical activities through workshops, essays and performances open to the publicand the participation of students from Italian and foreign academies."

Therefore, on 2nd July 2014, the ANVUR Governing Council expressed a positive opinion pursuant to Article 11 c. 2 Presidential Decree 212/05 on the application made by the Accademia Internazionale di Teatro di Roma..

On 1st and 2nd February 2016, the Commission for the Evaluation of Teaching Regulations, expressed its favourable opinion on the Accademia Internazionale di Teatro.
